I've Been Working on the Railroad: Train Songs App Reviews

Not really younger-toddler friendly.

My toddler (2.5 years old) lives trains and loves this game. Parts of it are a but cheesy or use what seem to be stock sounds. What I really dont like about it is the use of the song "Home on the Range." This song may seem like a sweet piece of Americana, however, it refers to Native Americans as "Red man" which I find insulting and racist, and when my toddler asks "who is the red man and why was he pressed from the West?" Well, thats not a conversation I was planning to have with my child at such a young age. I wish they would change the song. (You can mute it, but my child always manages to turn the sound back on). Because of the use of this song, I dont like my child playing this game.

My toddler son loves the songs and games but the ads are not appropriate for the age group intended.

Just like every other toddler app. Too many advertisements pop up confusing toddler and leading them away from the app. Too frustrating and in the end we close the game.

I heard my grandkids playing this in the other room, and the music was such a nice treat. A fun song to sing with kids and a fairly well done app, however for me the music is the best part of it

This app is awesome, its super easy to use and simple which is perfect for my son since he is only 30 months old. Music aint half bad either, nice one

This used to be one of our favorite go-to apps. In fact there are some really nice aspects still such as the learning games and the music, i just expect a bit more from Tiger Stripes after loving their new app Train School, and some of their other apps, which tend to have good replay value, hopefully another update will bring this one back to the best young kids app on the app store again, and ill update my review. At this point the app seems boring as we have played it soooo many times. My son loves his choo choo’s!

Don’t listen to the naysayers, this app is FANTASTIC and is my sons all time favorite app, it has very nice music that doesn’t make the room unbearable to be in like some of those other apps…you know what I’m talking about. Very nice and lovely to listen to from across the room

This is a Great kids app

I love this, it has music and choo choo engines for my son. He, like most boys I know under the age of 4 loves Thomas the Tank Engine, this is really a good app if your son (or daughter) likes trains like mine does

There are some likable elements to this, like the music is actually quite good. My son is older now so he lost interest after a about an hour (he is 5)

My little one absolutely loves this game. He really enjoys the puzzles and the sing alongs are his favorite. Great job developers!

This is a great app to let your kiddos play with. Mine love the sing a longs and games that come with it. You can even collect stickers. There is plenty to keep their attention. Great app! I would recommend it!

I don’t know what it is about this app, its not my personal favorite as a parent but my 3 yr old son loves it and whenever he starts acting up its one of the only things that works! A good update too, there are some new games. Thank you, its a lifesaver app

This is one of my sons favorite apps, he is gaga (quite literally! :) for trains. I like the new material, they changed the menu’s and added some improvements to the music that are great, the new menus make it easier in general but for my 3 yr old son who is so familiar with the game, was confused at first how to get to his favorite music because he has played this app so much in the past. He figured it out and like other Tiger Stripes apps, I highly recommend this to other parents and young kids

The music is easy to listen to and appropriate for kids. The little one likes trains a lot so it would be hard to screw this up. There are good elements for a free app and all the content is available which is welcome for me as a grandmother. I do not like in app purchases, so I can appreciate this app not doing that and having a paid version for those that mind the small ads ( they are not a problem). Thank you, more companies should do this, free is a good thing

Very fun & safe app with many different activities and animations. My kids love it. I feel really comfortable leaving my children with the iPad playing with their favourite trains
